Region ONE
Region ONE (Outrageous New Experiences) is one of the regions of the California Destination Imagination affiliate. Region ONE supports teams in Northern California.
This region encompasses Siskiyou, Modoc, Shasta, Lassen, Tehama, Plumas, Butte, Glenn, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, Sierra, Nevada, Placer, Yolo, Sacramento, El Dorado, Amador, San Joaquin, Calaveras, Alpine, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties.
Students in these counties are invited to participate in this region!

Putting on a season of Destination Imagination takes teamwork!
We partner with parents, schools, community organizations and homeschool families to organize teams. Parents and teachers are encouraged to volunteer as team managers! Hello!
My name is Donna Sangwin, and I’m thrilled to be the Regional Director for Region ONE. My kids both participated in Destination Imagination, and the program was incredibly valuable in their development of life-skills, creativity, confidence, and abstract thinking. The magic of this program lies in the collaboration between kids to create their own multi-faceted solution to their chosen challenge— screens off, learning how to collaborate and problem solve without parental interference. Writing a script for the challenge, costume design, building backdrops and special features - all as part of a team, it is a very special process! Open-ended exploration increases students’ curiosity in learning. Kids learn that failure is part of the innovation process, and develop perseverance.
Most members of the all- volunteer Regional Board’s children participated in D.I. We volunteer because we want to give back to this amazing program, and do the hard work it takes to put on an unforgettable season for the kids. Through the season your team will build special bonds of trust and friendship. Parents get involved not only as Team Managers, but also as “taxi” drivers for the team, accompanying on excursions out to choose their own supplies or build new skills, providing snacks and more. I can’t wait to meet you and help you along your DI journey!
