Destination Imagination (DI) is an International educational non-profit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators, leaders and creative problem solvers. Our goal is to empower and equip participants with the real-life skills they need to achieve anything they can imagine.

The DI Challenge Experience is 100% student driven. Our academic Challenges are designed to teach the creative process — a project based system of learning that is at the root of innovation and a student’s ability to bring an idea to life. Each season we offer seven new and engaging Team Challenges with different educational focuses — Technical, Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Service Learning and Early Learning. Students explore their passions, discover their unique talents and abilities, and learn new skills while creating unique solutions to these Challenges. Teams also participate in Instant Challenges — quick creative and critical thinking exercises that improve teamwork and their ability to solve problems in a short period of time.

The California DI Affiliate is comprised of seven geographical Regions and manages the DI program in California. The Silicon Valley Region is administered entirely by Volunteers. We have a dedicated group of community members with diverse backgrounds who support our Region and Regional Events. Their commitment makes it possible for students throughout the area to participate each year.

The following materials are resources that are available to help you and your group learn more about the Destination Imagination program.

  • The Creative Journey Interactive Guide is designed to help you understand more about the DI program and why it is important for students to participate in it.
  • On the California DI website under “About Us, What is Destination Imagination?” there are several different video clips of team solutions. One that may be most helpful  is of a California Global Finalist team that is narrated by the team and shows the process they went through to develop their solution to the 2016-17 Scientific Challenge.
  • The 2019-20 Team Challenge Overview Flyer is available in English and Spanish

Please let us know if we can assist you with Starting A Team! The Silicon Valley Region has a group of Volunteers that are willing to give a one hour Information Presentation for you.  If your school or organization would like to schedule a presentation for your group, please contact the Silicon Valley Regional Director, Mary Jane Campbell, at
