Instant Challenge Workshop for Teams – Silicon Valley

The IC Workshop is a wonderful opportunity for your team to not only have fun solving multiple instant challenges, but to see other teams’ solutions. Attendance is voluntary. Not all team members need to be present for a team to participate in the IC Workshop.

All Rising Stars teams will attend Session 1. Elementary, Middle, Secondary levels teams will attend one of three sessions. Each team will attend only one session.

Session 1:   9:30 am -11:30 am (All Rising Stars teams, some E, M, S levels teams)
Session 2:   12:30 – 2:30 pm (E, M, S levels teams only)
Session 3:   3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (E, M, S levels teams only)

Registration is required. Space is limited; teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Registrations need to be received by Sunday, November 9, 2014.

Workshop Logistics:

Teams should check-in 15 minutes before their session begins at the tables near the Multi-Purpose room (near the corner of Brenton Avenue and Lassen Avenue.)

Parking around the school is limited, so please allow time to park. There is a small parking lot off of Lassen Ave, but most of the available parking will be on the streets near the school.

Due to severe space limitations and for the safety of participants and volunteers, no more than 2 adults for each Elementary, Middle, and Secondary team or 3 adults for each Rising Stars team may accompany the team at this event. No other spectators including siblings will be allowed; we really don’t have the space.

No food or drink (including coffee) is allowed in the classrooms. Please make sure the children are well fed prior to the event.

As the rooms may or may not be heated, attendees may want to dress in layers.

Teams will do multiple challenges of various types. Elementary, Middle, and Secondary teams will rotate among separate classrooms. Rising Stars teams will rotate through stations within the multi-purpose room. Rising Stars teams will be doing simpler, age-appropriate challenges.

We recommend that adults/team managers bring paper/pens to take notes on their team’s performances.
